Fresh Air was blowing onto the Streets of Vienna when Totally Wired came along. Not that the gang members havent been around or active before – with running the LOVE_ gallery, perfoming in such Bands as Rabe or The Happy Kids. But now a stream of interesting Groups came into light – wrapped in nicely packed covers.

Groups like Dot Dash, Kristy And The Kraks and Clemens Band Denk were surprisingly original, yet crediting and communicating with their influences.

After Two LPs on their very own imprint,  Dot Dash did release a 7″ EP in 2014 for Fettkakao (Slide b/w Seasick). When their Label and Band fell apart, Kate Kristal went on with Kristy And The Kraks – a project she founded earlier, alongside Dot Dash, with Ana Threat.

I was impressed from the very first time i have seen them, and it only quadrupled from there: the debut 7″ – a Viennese classic;  Hard hitting Personalities with an extravagant stage presence; always in motion chasing the next interesting moment.

Kristy and the Kraks have recorded a 7″ EP, an Album called Smile on TWR and contributed songs to local compilations. Now four tracks have been recorded by Florian Tremmel for Fettkakao. The EP Snakes On The Phone is avavailable for streaming on Bandcamp, Spotify and iTunes already.

the Duo is on the road for a week, playing and promoting their current EP in places like Beograd, Budapest and Ljubljana.

for quite a while i have been playing the You Make Me Wanna Die 7″ by The Shivas during the Fettkakao DJ nights at Elektro Gönner and other places. there was always someone coming up to me asking who’s song this is.

The Shivas have 2 LPs out via K Records – White Out and You Know What To Do; a new record should be out due this summer as well!
the Quartet from Portland, Oregon is touring Europe for the 2nd time and now finally come to Vienna on August 25th, 2015 too!

this happening takes place at the Rhiz and Dot Dash perform as well! listen to their 7″ from last year, here, on bandcamp.

i am a fan of Totally Wired for a longer time already. and the label would be unthinkable without Dot Dash.

I don’t really remember how i got to know them all. it must have been Kathi i have met first – during a punk show at the fluc. weeks later she asked me if i wanted to hang some screenpinted (fettkakao) covers at the LOVE_ gallery – a place run by Kathi and her friends then.  there i was introduced to almost all DD members, but neither DD nor Totally Wired was around then. they had this really wonderfull gallery – a place i would come visit, hang out at – or organize exhibitions / shows there myself. i felt connected to them immidiatelly.

Totally Wired curated an evening during the Fisch-Fest at the Bach in November 2013. Dot Dash presented their second LP – and even though i have seen them perform many times – it was there that i wished them to do s/t with me. they recorded Evil for the Sampler – and some weeks later Seasick and Slide for this 7″.

bieber (flight 13) pressed the vinyl, my friends graphikkinder did expose the screen with which Dot Dash and me printed 200 covers.

the 7″ will be presented at the Celseste tomorrow evening, an early show (be there at 8PM – it is over by 10PM),  we have a limited amount of colored vinyl available, and as seen before, the dots on the cover differ as well.

we have two issues out already!

the fanzines are catalogue-zines – to inform you on the newest releases and movements around the label, but also to use it as a communication tool – to feature interviews and art of (to us) interesting people.

the first issue was out Janury 2014. Melanie asked Priests and In School what they are passionate about, i asked Tirana 3 questions. it features art by Brandy Wine and Al Burian.

the second issue (which came out in April) has no interviews – but a text message riddle w/ Aivery about the upcoming sampler, a comic by Dot Dash; an image of Daniel Johnston drawn by Stephen Steinbrink and a drawing by Werner Bauer.

the fanzines are for free and published quarterly. if you happen to live abroad and want a copy – please contact me. they are free w/ every order and to be found in records stores, nice coffee shops and other random places around vienna.

the next issue is out due summer!
