Servas Gschaeft! is a soap label, that offers all kinds of forms in different colors made out of soap. words cannot describe how cool they look or feel, so head over to SG’s homepage or facebook page to find the perfect set for you.

we managed to create some FKK sets that you can buy now via Servas Gschaeft!’s shop. the sets are very limited, by the way.

this is how one of the sets look like. but they all vary in their colour arrangements, none looks like the other.

after having learned how those things are made, and that you need to be a very patient person for the process of soap making, we did what has to be done to introduce more people to good things: a video.

when Seven Sioux was a band from Linz, from 1988 to 1994, i was a kid. i only started to embrace music from 1992 on; looking up to their peers played on MTV: Nirvana. as i grew older and into a really nice punk, hardcore… independent music scene, i only heard of Target Of Demand and the once so vital punk scene in Linz. i met Rainer somewhere between 1999 and 2000. i think i first saw him perform in Graz with Grant (where i was blown away by his stage presence) and was introduced to him shortly after by Thomas Reitmayer. in 2002 Rainer asked me to play bass (after Sushi of Holly May turned down the offer to play with them) in the then reformed version of Grant: Grant Royal. i was the happiest person for a while; my life took turns for the better at that point.

when Grant Royal split up in 2003 i was going different directions, again. but Rainer was always there. as a friend and person who understood and helped me in what i did. to this day.

it was a natural step to work with Seven Sioux when they came back together in 2005 – the same year fettkakao was found.

i was making new friends again and trying to drag them along to all the stuff my friends and me were just popping up with. like the show i really liked at the B72 in 2006. things were fresh, tight and spurring. and so punk.

the band never managed to do a video but played some tours in germany, austria, england and made a lot of people stun and happy.

you can see them for the last time in austria at the Arena, Dreiraum as they are opening for Scream next monday (january 30th, 2012), and in may for the two last shows in germany:

last year was kinda busy. at least around this time. i had 4 releases in the oven. but the situation was similar: after september 2010 (festkakao and two 7″es at the same time) i haven’t had a release until the beginning of 2011. even though we had plans for fall. last year it was stefanie sourials CD that came out more than 6 month later, this time it is the great fuegos album we have in the oven for so long already, and the armin lorenz 7″. both records will happen. and are more than worth their wait i can assure you.

but fettkakao wasn’t lazy. we had the FM4 soundpark studio 2 session, the youki, melanie friedls exhibition. every month another joyful moment, with so many nice people involved.

behind the scenes me, my friends and family were busier. and our ideas grew into reality. i started to take sewing lessons, learning to work with fabric with my father. and am at the beginning, still. nick and me came up w/ the idea to print textile, so that i can start learning to sew on those, which helps my father and me since we have defined projects that way. nick and me had the idea for a three colour print – cubes, that need to be put in a rather exact order – so that you -dear reader- can read the name of the little art platform in three colours… im glad i got help from agnes, who’s a very precise person and made us the perfect stencil for the screen. here’s an insight on how we work, put the pattern on the fabric. and. to be honest: i love the way it looks with the construction aspect of it.

this was the first attempt to make it right. the full disclosure will follow, also what we are using the fabric for.

funny. when i think of her, its always like… she was there when i was trying to be cool at HC shows. she made fun of me. rightfully so, haha. but she always stayed fair. one thing i remember very well was – when i was 17 or so, i was hanging out at the TU club after skating, where that band sabeth was supposed to play. i did not have enough money for the entry. while i was sitting there, and preparing to leave, melanie (who was setting up the show) just asked me how much i had – and that i could stay and watch the band. i gave her what i had (which wasnt much) and stayed. i was thankfull – so that sabeth remained a band that i liked a lot the next couple of years.

melanie’s a friend who accompanies me in where and what im doing. understanding and laughing about it. but hey. she’s a person you can learn so much from (like i did in my teenage years, also by reading her great fanzines). she does great art as well, that (im afraid) not many know people know about yet. her focus on politics, people and arts is really inspiring. and melanies pictures capture her nice little world and point of views pretty well.

with the exhibition at the projekt love_ , melanie is focusing on friends she made. of course, as everything, these are little snipplets of a big universe she’s in. there will be double portraits – close ups of characters shot with her iPhone (w/ the hipstamatic app). the pictures will be printed and hung on the walls of the love gallery.

of course the pictures will hang next to each other, and will look much better on white walls.

the exhibition takes place from december 10th to december 31st, 2011. we are planning something nice for the opening – and will let you know via facebook / twitter / google+ / talking / what it will be about. we will use the same channels to inform you about happenings within those 21 days at the love.

since the love gallery hasn’t recullar opening hours i would suggest to write me if you want to come by during the evenings, i will open up the place for you then.

i can only speak for me and my little team (and maybe one day soon’s christian) (who is part of the team anyways). but to us the youki was a great intermission of our everyday lives. there’s always a new perspective, something i seem to forget when staying in my little world for too long.

the workshop was, as said before, an open thing where a lot of people came by to make something out of the stuff laying around on the table. sometimes asking questions, but most of the time just doing. my favorite is this one – which i found – not knowing who has made it or when. created with selfmade stamps.

here’s a picture of our room and some guests. isnt it lovely? we even had parties in here – the best room ever!

but we where lucky enough to have more rooms to be in. the one above is where we were sitting, drawing, cutting, stamping, chatting – but we had one for doing screenprints as well. here’s a screen and under the screen is a piece of paper. matthias hands are squeezing colours onto that.

we used different colors, as you can see on that finished poster.

the youki ended with a gala thingie on saturday. there was a jury judging films that were shown during the youki. and the prices were made by christian pausch (one day soon.), which he was knitting while the festival took place. look!

piep piep. i am so exhausted, because there were parties happening every evening. and you know me: i cant stop dancing… plus: breakfast was pretty early too. gnnrr. for the last evening drehli robnik and sissiboy played their favorite tunes. with art on the wall by nick. he did that on the first evening when the two of us were disc jockeying – me dancing to music, nick putting tape on the wall.

this week was so nice – i have to say thank you to peter schernhuber for having invited us to the youki, to host a workshop on analog graphics (or more likeley handicraft work) – and sebastian and the rest of the crew for beeing so nice to us. too many names to drop (or even remeber). and thank you to my little team: nick and matthias. i dont like doing things alone. or to put it another way: whatever i do, it only makes sense with friends.

now here’s some impressions on the youki days… we had since tuesday until now.

the day we arrived (well it was dark already, winter…eeeh) we checked in, hugged people we knew already and went for a little walk watching short films projected on walls around the city in wels. it was freezing outside, which lead us to take a shortcut to have some (vegan) food at the warm festival office. (nick w/ soup)

the warming up turned into a party, with our favorite host liser – but we had to leave pretty early, since we were exhausted and needed to be fit the very next day. oh did i mention that we gave christian pausch – artist in residence and one day soon. chef a ride to wels? to be seen in the picture right next to liser (check out matthias’ increddible long hands!).

the day our workshop began we got up early & pretty organized. and since everything’s in walking distance  we put our stuff on nick’s skateboard rolling to the schlachthof.

day first of the workshop was fun. we made a few friends. like judith who claims to be a party pooper, but the things she poops are better than any party can be. <3.

the party evening had a short intermission with a very good clara luzia show. its always nice to meet clara.

we were DJing after the show, and it was a lot of fun. i was not expecting it to be that cool, even though viktoria of vortex rex (who is hosting a work shop at the youki as well) told me that the parties here are the best. everyone was dancing while i tried to rotade like the moon does around itself, the earth and the sun. which made me wake up w/ a headache and a hurting knee today. hihi.

the thing we worked on the 2nd day was a fanzine about liser. everyone loves her; she takes care of all of us on this festival, has a loudmouth and a big heart (not only tatooed). (picture: nick with liser + the zine + poster).

the day was long, matthias satisfied, nick and me happy with the zines.

but as time went by i came to understand more and more what this label can be. it is not the music. it is not the art. as stupid as it sounds: it’s the people. their big thoughts, their way of trying to understand/ express themselves. and for me it is learning. all the time. constantly.

for the youki thing i asked nick and matthias to do this with me,  as a team. the way FKK moves. the idea is doing it all analogue. without computers; with more handycraft stuff. not teaching but giving ideas maybe. we came to the conclusion to focus on an old media, s/t pre-blogs and that social media thing: fanzines and poster art (since this is a film festival – posters are important!). and funny cause it is some kinda zeitgeist, now that the web 2.0 thing goes down a bit, people cry out to get away from their computers and the internet.

we will have differend ways of getting colours, words and pictures onto paper. whether with stencils or screenprints, a xerox machine or stamps, whatever it takes we will do it, hehe.

FM4′s soundpark is celebrating its 10 year annniversary; the studio2 session round 20. and we are invited for the party!

i dont know if clemens (cool kid & curator of the studio 2 sessions) knows how much the session means – at least to me. after i started fettkakao, and ilias seayou with Go Die Big City a little bit later – it was one of the first things we did all together – with almost everyone involved who released records on either the one or the other label. early 2006 Go Die Big City shared an evening at the studio2 with Luise Pop – and there we were: matthias of A Thousand Fuegos, anna of Paper Bird, anna and rudi as the core of GDBC, ilias of Vortex Rex, me the fettkakao and stefanie. something has happened there. people have heard of us, and i think we learned about ourselves a little bit too.

one year later, 2007, A Thousand Fuegos was playing the studio 2 session (with a reduced, similar line up as GDBC –> video), 2010 Lonely Drifter Karen.

the special thing about this years FM4 soundpark studio2 session is -that there will be three sets of people/artist/ “collectives” that have been part of the soundpark sessions and/ or represent scenes where a lot of different people are involved. invited are the really cool SK Invitational from linz – who represent as a big band the well known hip hop scene not only of that city – and patrick pulsinger – an austrian all star – who was never limited to any scene or sound (patrick produced the Brooke’s Bedroom 12″ for fettkakao btw).

seayou and fettkakao was asked to present the little scene we are involved with – and to bring up some projects – which we are indeed used to, where some are helping others out – and /or create art together.

of course i dont want to spoil everything here – but it will be a rather interesting set inkluding Vortex Rex, die Eternias, 8 Hours Manatee, A Thousand Fuegos, Mile Me Deaf & the Maximum Miracle Center (huhu w/ Sex Jams members!).

all of that will be broadcasted live from 7pm on tomorrow (oktober 26th,2011) on Radio FM4, and there will even be a video stream!

not to be seen on this picture is our friend matthias, a thousand fuegos headhoncho. he came by train to hang out and party with us – matthias even played a song with mile me deaf that evening. the poolbar is the best place for a party like we had (…) thank you philipp for having made this possible.

we really missed matthias last weekend at the pmk in innsbruck – when sex jams played a show with plaided – all under the moniker of a fettkakao label night. it was matthias’ birthday, so we took some gang pictures as a present. this is one of the nicer ones. and a good start for a nice evening.

i did not take pictures (again) of the great sets both bands did – nor do i have some from the party that happen later on.

after a little sleep depriviation (i get used to share sleeping places w/ the jamz) we had a great breakfast with our friend beate who did the show at the pmk. thank you beate!

then we had to split. sex jams went to esslingen to play the komma fest, and i drove with plaided to the fluff fest, to meet our czech friends from the am180 collective. hello tomas (and me again with bad looking hair…)

the next ones a good one (the other) tomas took. it captures the feeling i had during their set. plaided fit so well to the fluff fest…and even though their snare broke during the set it was one of the most energetic shows i have seen so far.

with only a little sleep, lots of kilometers, and a stressy moment  (i drove into the mudd with my VW polo – and couldnt move the car until we asked a nice family to help us to pull out the car) – this was a very exciting and spurring experience. thanks to everyone involved.. and. it felt good to meet so many old and new friends… piep.
